How to set up and save a Passkey as your Multi-Factor Authentication method on your Sprintax account.
Passkeys
A passkey is a form of authenticating your account using your device's own security, such as Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a PIN.
Setting up a Passkey
Step 1: Add your passkey
- Navigate to the Security section in Sprintax Identity.
- Scroll down to the Passkey section.
- Select Add Passkey to begin.
- Give the passkey a display name so you can recognize it later, for example “Work laptop” or “My phone.”
- Select Continue when you're done.
Step 2: Choose where to save it
Your browser will ask where you'd like to save the passkey. Pick the option that matches how you want to sign in:
- Save on this device: store the passkey on the device you're using, unlocked with a fingerprint, face, or PIN.
- Use a phone, tablet, or security key: save the passkey on your phone and confirm by scanning a QR code.
Option A: Save on this device
- Your browser confirms it will save the passkey (for example, to Microsoft Password Manager on Windows, iCloud Keychain on Apple devices, or Google Password Manager on Android). Select Create to continue.
- Enter the PIN you previously set up (or use Face ID / Touch ID / Windows Hello) and confirm. This never leaves your device — Sprintax never sees it.
Once confirmed, your passkey is created.
Option B: Use a phone, tablet, or security key
- Your browser asks which device to use. Select “iPhone, iPad, or Android device” (or “Security key” if you use a hardware key).
- A QR code appears. Scan it with your phone's camera and follow the prompt on your phone.
- Once your phone connects, finish the prompt on your phone to complete the passkey.
Passkey added successfully
However you chose to save it, you'll see a “Passkey added successfully” confirmation, and it's now ready to use as your verification step the next time you sign in.
