Changes related to the 2026 federal Form W-4, including support for new and updated fields and guidance for users completing the form.
Deductions section box 4 (b) is now fillable on form W-4.
It can be populated from the newly added field on Tax Forms Info.
The Step 4(b) Deductions Worksheet is available via the blue link displayed above the new field.
Important note:
The 2026 federal Form W-4 introduces a new worksheet associated with Line 4(b) – Deductions. This worksheet allows taxpayers to calculate deductions that may reduce withholding, including:
- Qualified tips and qualified overtime compensation.
- Itemized deductions such as medical and dental expenses, state and local taxes, and charitable contributions.
- Other eligible deductions outlined in the worksheet.
To complete the worksheet accurately, the taxpayer must determine whether they expect to itemize deductions or claim the standard deduction, and provide estimates based on their projected 2026 income and individual tax situation.
Completion of this field is optional. Users can successfully complete a 2026 W-4 in Calculus without entering a value for Step 4(b).
